Animals remain "Things" in Switzerland

A recent decision in the Swiss parliament has established that animals in the future will also have the status of "things" and not that of living beings. The bill was intended to create a special category for animals in the statute book.

Following the decision there has been mounting protest and indignation among the population and Franz Weber, anillustrious Swiss fighter for animal rights, environmental protection and vegetarianism has announced the launching of a petition for a referendum.
