First successful EVIVA New Year's Eve Run

from European Vegetarian, Issue 1/2000

A wonderful mountain scenery was the frame of the first EVIVA NEW Year's Eve Run at Inzell, a picturesque sport- and youth village, in southern Germany. More than 80 participants, some coming from far away, had registered and 49 of them undertook the 10 km run. The course was as well demanding as full of variety.

The winners:

2.Dr. Lutz Nasdala, Mainz 38:54.8
3.Peter De Winter, Brussels  39:24.2

Following contacts from the EVU Congress in Widnau, Dr. Graham from Florida and Prof. Rozalind Gruben had come to lecture about the best and healthy nutrition for athletes. Douglas Graham, being himself a specialist for trampoline, gave an instructing and well received lesson. The subject was so interesting that it went on for four hours instead of the planned hour.

Dr. Thomas Schultz-Wittner completed in a very competent way the lecturing about the advantages of mere raw food.
Finally the organiser of the event Erwin Kaussner presented his recently launched book: "High Energy für Champions - Sporternährung in neuer Sicht", EVIVA-Verlag, ISBN 3-9806614-3-1, ('High Energy for Champions- Sport-nutrition under a new aspect').

On New Years morning a peace run took place organised by the Sri Chinmoy team. Although only a few participants took part, it was a great success with every runner carrying the peace torch along a certain stretch.
An excellent organisation, content participants, a wonderful landscape and raw food made this event a unique start into the new millennium.
