I hope everyone has a safe journey home after a wonderful time making new friends and learning new things. Hopefully the organisers can now enjoy a well earned rest. There will always be a few sad souls who glory in highlighting anything that goes wrong, but I'm sure that the vast majority can only admire those who put in so much hard work to make the congress happen and thank them for all their efforts.

Congratulations, EVU ! Vegetarianism has finally hit the world news ! Omnivores are laughing their butts off about those silly veggies poisoning themselves with their Healthy Food !!! Every housewife knows that raw beans are toxic, but the EVU's "Nutrition Experts" don't know that. A shame for the whole movement.

It is astonishing that nobody answers the phone on a day journalists from all over the world want to know what went wrong at a vegetarian congress, under the presidence of a Belgian professor. Habe bereits am ersten Tag geschmeckt, dass ein Fleischkoch uns Teilnehmer bekocht.

Wie kann es sein, dass zu einer solch wunderbaren Idee ein reiner FLEISCH-Koch engagiert wurde?

Wir haben doch in unseren Reihen genügend ausgezeichnete und erfahrene Köche.

Vegi-Küche ist eben nicht kochen ohne Fleisch!

Ausserdem bedaure ich ausserordentlich, dass durch die hier erhöhte Preispolitik die jungen, interessanten Vegis vor der Tür gehalten wurden.

Ich finde den Kongress gut, aber einiges könnte besser sein.
Leider gibt es kaum biologische Produkte und es wird nicht
gesungen. Zudem ist die Qualität der Vorträge sehr unterschiedlich.

In Sachen Gesundheit wird zuwenig unternommen, ausser dass auf den
Wert der vegetarischen Ernaehrung hingewiesen wird. Der Kenntnisstand der
Teilnehmenden scheint recht gering zu sein.

Hello from Malta to all participants of the EVU congress. On behalf of the committee of the Vegetarian Society of Malta I wish to extend best wishes for a memorable event to all representatives meeting from the various parts of Europe. Special greetings to Andreas and John from the cybercafe and to Sigrid and the rest of the organisers who have succeeded in bringing so many people together to such a wonderful place (I have peeped in the photo album and really wish I could be with you in person. It is nice though that this technological gadget in front of me makes me feel somehow close!)
The small group of volunteers in the Malta Veg movement believe strongly in the benefits of bringing together people with a sound moral base. The positive energy that is created will surely be felt for a long time by all those present and hopefully some ripples will come over the water and wash our shores.
Meanwhile we will continue our endeavour to shake the collective awareness into compassiojnate sanity. All our efforts are at the moment focused on having a successful outcome from the Mediterranean Vegetarian Festival between the 1st-4th October. Such an event is a first for Malta and surely it will be one important landmark in the relatively short history of our local organisation.
We are all with you in spirit, and hoping to be together in person in the near future.

I'm don't know whether those who are only there in spirit can put up notices, but I send my very best wishes to everyone: the many old friends I had hoped to meet again in Widnau and the many new friends I would have made if family circumstances had not made it impossible on this occasion. Especially I congratulate Sigrid on making it all happen, together with Marcel, Hildi, Andy, Renato and all the others whose company I have enjoyed on previous occasions and who have worked so hard to make the congress a success. I hope that all the participants have arrived safely - including Mr Modi, whom it was a pleasure to see in the UK last week, and other good friends too numerous to name. Have a wonderful, happy and productive time at this vital gathering for vegetarianism and the animals. I'm so very sorry not to be there this week, but I hope that by the time of the Maltese VegFest on October 1st I shall be in a position to join you all in real life.
